“Redefining the District"

Charoenkrung district and various locations around Bangkok
Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) under the supervision of the Office of Knowledge Management and Development (Public Organization), which is in turn part of the Office of the Prime Minister, initiated the project “Redefining the District” reflecting one of TCDC core missions in development of Charoenkrung to a creative district. This mission is a part of driving forward Thailand with the creative economy in accordance with Thailand’s country policy.
Activities for development of Charoenkrung are organized throughout the year 2017 based on the co-creation process between stakeholders under the project “Co-create Charoenkrung”. Activities under this project includes small green space development, abandoned building renovation and alleys connection, aiming to boost the economy in Charoenkrung. Collaboration with the governmental sector in improvement of public service and infrastructure are developed. Policy and measure promotion is emphasized to activate investment in Charoenkrung from the private sector and to revive Charoenkrung to a business community.
The activities under the project “Redefining the District” are as following;
1. The activity “Redefining the District” is held between 5-7 May 2017 to build awareness in the change of Charoenkrung by services of TCDC at The Grand Postal Building. Series of indoor and outdoor activities surrounding The Grand Postal Building are organized to promote Charoenkrung district.
2. The online exhibition “Revival the District” explores the potential of creativity in building business by renovating shop house and old building located in Charoenkrung. Stories and information of business sprung and expanded in Charoenkrung can be viewed on revivalproject.tcdc.or.th.
3. The design festival “Bangkok Design Week 2018” presents creative and design works along with innovations driven by creativity and design thinking process, igniting the atmosphere of creativity, knowing and experience sharing, networking and extension of business opportunity.
